The Alpine Leasing Policy Review is now underway, led by ARV in partnership with the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action, with a stakeholder engagement to kick off in February. Engagement for this strategically important project will build on the extensive consultation that was conducted by the former Alpine Resorts Coordinating Council (ARCC).
Commencing in February 2024, ARV’s Alpine Leasing Policy Review team will consult with a project reference group to seek their input into and support for the proposed alpine resorts leasing policy principles and policy changes. The project reference group will have no more than 10 members made up of representatives from the Stakeholder Consultative Committees of Mt Baw Baw, Mt Buller, Falls Creek, and Mt Hotham, the Alpine Resorts Industry Advisory Group, and the property/real estate and financial sectors. The project reference group will not be a decision-making body but will be a sounding board and provide industry expertise and experience.
Over February to April 2024, stakeholders can expect to see a range of engagement opportunities for input into and feedback on the development of the policy outside of the project reference group, including online surveys and face-to-face or online engagement sessions. We encourage all stakeholders to participate in these opportunities so we can consider the most comprehensive range of perspectives and issues.
The draft policy will also be opened up to public comment and final feedback prior to finalisation.
ARV is confident that extensive input from our stakeholders will result in a contemporary policy framework that provides the Victorian government with prudent and flexible options for issuing alpine resort leases. The refreshed policy will incorporate environmental, social and economic values while acknowledging the likely impacts of climate change in the medium to long term.
