ARV Mt Buller is extending an open invitation to a summit in Mansfield on Thursday 25 July to discuss and contribute to development of a new strategy for public transport to Mt Buller, from the mountain and around the mountain.

Transport operators, accommodation providers, government agencies, ARV staff, visitors, customers, residents, accessible transport users and anyone else with an interest are very welcome to attend.

General Manager of ARV Mt Buller and Mt Stirling, Alan Arthur, said the idea is to develop a plan that provides:

  • Transport that is an excellent, safe, and convenient experience, at affordable rates, for every user.
  • A solution that balances the requirements of the users and the suppliers but considers the unique challenges and hazardous driving conditions of the alpine area, maintains the character of the alpine village and protects the unique alpine environment.
  • A commercial environment that is profitable, equitable, transparent, competitive and allows confident investment decision-making.
  • A licensing and permitting environment that is appropriate, minimal, enabling, easy to administer, fairly priced, evenly enforced and as frictionless as possible, while remaining within the scope of the Act, the regulations and other relevant legislation.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing market conditions and product offerings.
  • Recognition of the authority and expertise of other agencies that manage the safety, compliance, accreditation and registration for vehicles, including commercial passenger vehicles and buses.
