Landing a helicopter in the alpine resorts

Helicopters are an efficient way to travel within alpine resorts. However, restrictions apply to where helicopters may land, depending on the location and established facilities.

Emergency services helicopter landings are exempt from permit requirements and landing restrictions, and must comply with guidelines established by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA).

All commercial helicopter landings require a permit, unless otherwise stated below.

Falls Creek

Helicopters may land at Falls Creek at the designated public helipad. To support safe operations, a Helicopter Landing Work Practice applies to all landings at the Falls Creek public helipad.

Operators must complete a Helicopter Authority application and submit it to ARV Falls Creek prior to any planned helicopter landings.

Operators are responsible for ensuring that all employees and pilots have read and comply with the Work Practice.
