ARV manages nearly 9,000 assets across 6 alpine resorts, including:

  • roads
  • water and wastewater systems
  • power
  • snow making
  • lifts
  • trails
  • public facilities.

These assets support 1.4 million winter visitors, half a million green season visitors and contribute $2.14 billion to Victoria’s economy each year.

The total asset base is valued at $434 million, with overall asset condition rated between fair and good (average 2.42). Several asset classes - such as buildings, power infrastructure and roads - show ageing conditions and capacity constraints that require targeted reinvestment.

Key challengesOpportunities
  • climate change impacts
  • increasing extreme weather
  • changing visitor demand
  • historical under investment.
  • adopting consistent asset management practices
  • replacing ageing assets with more efficient technologies
  • consolidating under performing assets
  • using data to drive smarter decisions.

The strategy sets out a long‑term plan to close this gap and ensure ARV continues to deliver essential services, protect alpine environments and support vibrant year‑round visitor experiences.

It identifies 20‑year capital investment plans for each resort, informing long‑term asset renewal and reviewed annually.

The Asset Management Strategy is to ensure the resorts’ essential assets continue to safely, reliably and sustainably support visitors, communities, businesses and the environment. It guides long term, evidence-based decision making about a large and diverse asset base across the resorts.
