Road Management
ARV is responsible for managing and maintaining public municipal roads, pathways, car parks and associated infrastructure across the Victoria's alpine resorts.
Mt Buller & Mt Stirling Road Management
The Mt Buller & Mt Stirling Road Management Plan sets out how these roads are inspected, maintained and repaired, while also outlining ARV’s approach to snow clearing and de-icing operations.
The plan provides clear service standards, responsibilities and response timeframes to support safe and efficient access for residents, visitors, businesses and emergency services. It balances community expectations, public safety requirements and available resources, while ensuring compliance with the Victorian Road Management Act 2004.
The plan includes:
- Road, car park, pathway, track and trail classifications.
- Inspection and maintenance standards.
- Response timeframes for defects and road hazards.
- Snow clearing and de-icing service standards.
- Responsibilities of ARV, tenants and road users.
- Information about road access, closures and traffic management within the resorts.
The current Road Management Plan was endorsed in April 2026 and will guide the management of public road and pathway infrastructure across Mt Buller and Mt Stirling through to the next review period.
