Water Unit Installation Works impact on water quality

As a part of the upgrade works to Mt Buller's water treatment system and the combining of the High Level and Low Level Water Treatment Plants, the UV disinfection unit from the Low Level Plant is being transferred and installed at the High Level Plant. These works are scheduled to take place on Tuesday 13 October 2026.

During these works, water must be diverted during the modification and installation resulting in UV disinfection unavailable for the period of works. A bypass will be utilised that enables chlorination of raw water, however monitoring and flow-paced dosing of chemicals will not be possible during the diversion.

The Department of Health has been contacted and notified of the works, risks and planned mitigation measures. The Department of Health has endorsed the planned actions.

To mitigate any risk of potential adverse health effects, ARV has issued a Boil Water Advice Notice in relation to the works. This Notice will be in place from Tuesday 13 October 2026 and will remain in effect until post-works water testing is conducted and results are approved by Department of Health. This is likely to be a period of approximately seven days and lifting of the Notice will be publicly communicated on this page, through direct email and in-resort signage.

If you have any queries, please contact ARV Mt Buller on 5777 6077.
