Any backcountry snow enthusiasts, including tour operators taking groups into the backcountry region should note the pending update to the Outdoor Council Australia snow activities guidance, with a ‘Good Practice Guide’ due to be release in the near future.
In the interim, Outdoors Victoria recommends the most up to date guidance for dependant groups in the backcountry is Australian Snow Best Practice Discussion Paper - for Dependent Group Activities in Australian Alpine Backcountry Conditions which was created by the Backcountry Committee of Outdoors NSW & ACT.
