Alpine Resorts Victoria (ARV) is progressing its commitment to sustainability and responsible asset management through targeted energy efficiency and renewable energy efforts at Lake Mountain.

Lake Mountain currently operates as an off-grid resort, with power supplied primarily through a central diesel generator facility, supplemented by solar generation and a lithium-ion battery energy storage system. ARV has undertaken a series of works to better integrate renewable energy throughout the resort and optimise existing infrastructure to reduce reliance on fossil fuels, particularly during peak winter demand.

A diesel generation upgrade is also underway, which has included the sale of oversized generation assets no longer required and the installation of a new generator operating at a more efficient load point. Power system control upgrades will also be used to improve automation and coordination between solar, batteries and generators, while enhancements to the site’s power monitoring system will provide more detailed insight into system performance and energy usage.

Together, these improvements are expected to significantly reduce annual diesel consumption while delivering more efficient, reliable and integrated power management at Lake Mountain. ARV is aiming to utilise 100% renewable energy in the green season and off set a large portion of its winter usage as well, delivering a great environmental and financial outcome.
