The Zoos Victoria Bogong Moth Tracker program has had some incredible results this summer – more than three times the sightings of Bogong Months than previously recorded. Zoos Vic have recorded sightings in every Australian state and territory, and verified Bogong Moths in regions of Australia previously not sighted before.
While Zoos Vic attribute the increase in sightings in part to the increase in awareness of the progress, they also estimate that there is an increase in moth numbers. This makes these findings incredibly promising for the critically endangered Mountain Pygmy-possum.
